Is MelodyPods truly offline ?
MelodyPods can play all the music as it is licensed to be downloaded and stored on your device. Most music players don’t have the license to do this and can only offer you a streaming solution which can conflict with your POS systems at busy times.
One thing to note is that the Google Play system requires a network connection to check if your subscription is live or not. We will, over time adjust the frequency of these calls to Google Play so that it doesn’t require 24/7 network availability like other music players. Please bear with us.
Why Buy Melody Pods when I can use Spotify?
With Spotify you need to make sure you have the premium subscription to avoid adverts interrupting. Melody Pods doesn’t have adverts. With Spotify you also need to purchase annual PRO licenses separately for the type and size of your business. With Melody Pods all licensing is included in a simple subscription whatever your business is and size. With Spotify you need to manage your own playlist or use someone else’s and risk music entering that is not suitable or even a shock to hear in your business. With Melody Pods we have curated mood lists to stay consistent and provide no surprises. While the Spotify premium subscription price is similar to the Melody Pods subscription price, the overall cost of using Spotify is much higher because of the PRO licenses you need and extra time potentially to manage your own playlists. Melody Pods also has a schedule so you can automate changes to the mood lists over time plus Melody Pods can be streamed to a screen to show fun animated scenes with your branding and ticker tape digital signage.
Can I use Melody Pods’ music with other music players in my business?
Yes but you need to be sure you have public performance licenses for all the music you want to play. Melody Pods does not license any other music than what we offer via our own app. Playing other music will mean your annual licensing costs are more so be careful what you play and always ensure you have the right license to cover what you use.
Does the Melody Pods’ license cover me for more than one location?
Due to the limitations of the App Stores, there is currently no way to offer a multi site solution to this product build. We have created multi site and multi zoned solutions for our corporate clients in the past and hope to re build this back into our new platform in the future. Can I play MelodyPods music even after I have unsubscribed?
The Melody Pods’ music service is fundamentally about licensing music wrapped in a delivery service. So at the core, we are licensing music that is owned by our right’s holders for use for a period of time. This means what you are paying for is to use the music for the period you have subscribed for. Of course you are free to unsubscribe to not play Melody Pods’ music at the end of the subscription period.
How do I know you have the rights to license this music for public use in businesses?
We have been licensing music for business use since 2007 and have a strict process of rejecting any music that is found or subsequently found to have been licensed to more than one licensor at any one time. Some artists don’t realise that the traditional performing rights societies aren’t particularly honest about their interpretation of contracts such as “assuming” that not only tracks registered to them by an artist but all tracks an artist has created by an artist signed to them are theirs to exclusively collect royalties for. This is why we don’t sign artists who also have contacts with the traditional performing rights societies and enforce within our contracts they take liability for duplicating any exclusivity agreements. Our experience alone has ensured we know typically how the performing rights industry works.

We have an artist enquiry contact page and tend to sign up new artists in batches when we want to expand our music catalogue.
Need to cancel your subscription?
Currently we manage all our subscriptions via the Google Play Store so it’s as easy as accessing your subscription area in your account settings, choosing Melody Pods and cancelling the subscription. The subscription will then run until it expires at the end of the current term. More details here.
Does Melody Pods do installations ?
We focus on the music while we have partners who install and maintain music devices, cabling and speaker systems. Depending on your location we may have a partner who can help.
Can I use your service with or Music on Hold?
Yes, just plug in your telephone system to your app device or audio system.
What platforms do you support?
We support Android because of the diverse range of devices available at low cost to businesses. We are planning to develop for desktop platforms (MacOS and Windows) because of their use in receptions We see that IOS is more a premium product that normally business owners have in their pockets rather than sitting on a shelf dedicated to providing background music. Do you supply music with vocals ?
we don’t currently supply music with vocals. Vocal /lyrical music costs more to produce and license so for now we focus on instrumentals only that meet the needs of a large proportion of our clients without needing to raise the price further.
